Staffinder Support:  Custom Icons

One of the most requested features in version 2.0 was to allow administers to assign icons to the In Out choices.  Since version 2.0 we have done just that by giving administrators the right to assign standard Windows ICO files to any In Out choice.

Sample Icon Gallery:
We want customers to use this cool feature as soon as they start customizing this part of the program.  To help you start customizing your choices with custom icons, we are allowing users to download a small gallery of icons.  Below is a link to the ZIPPED file containing the sample icons.

  • Click HERE to download icons.  You will need to unzip this file once downloaded.

Want to make your own icons:
If you would like to make your own icons for Staffinder, here are some guidelines you can use to make them and get them into Staffinder.

  • Staffinder icons are no different than the ones you see on your Windows desktop.  Any icon that is 32 x 32 pixels in size and 256 colors can be used.
  • Compatible icons are saved as a Windows icon and have a .ICO extension.
  • Place the .ICO files you make into the folder where you installed Staffinder on your server.  Staffinder will store the image in the database once you have assigned it to one of the status choices.  You do not need the icon any longer but it is good to keep them local in the event you need it again.
  • If you'd like to make your own icons and do not have a favorite icon editing application here are a couple that we found that will do most anything you need...
  • One last point is to be sure you use a transparent background or your icons will appear as a black box.

Note:
As you add and change icons, employees will need to restart Staffinder for the changes to take affect.
